Our cost-plus approach, delivered under a Prime Cost Contract, provides transparency and flexibility, aligning the aspirations of both parties while offering real value for money.
Experienced Hands, Personal Approach
Phil Pillar, a qualified carpenter and experienced site foreman, brings over 16 years of hands on construction expertise. Having previously delivered a wide range of projects including bespoke new build homes, purpose-built student accommodation, office accommodation and sensitive period refurbishments Phil has built strong, lasting relationships with trusted sub-contractors and suppliers across the region. At Exemplar, Phil remains firmly on the tools, managing day-to-day site operations, quality control, health and safety, and liaison with building control. Known for his approachable style and problem-solving mindset, he is the key point of contact for clients and is personally involved in every stage of the build process.
Craig Robinson oversees the financial structure of the business, tendering and sub-contractor appointments. While not employed full-time by Exemplar, he brings strategic oversight and specialist knowledge of the wider development and planning landscape. Craig is also a Director of Pillar Land Securities Ltd, a Plymouth-based land and planning consultancy specialising in the promotion of residential-led sites and raising institutional funding—particularly for affordable rent-to-buy models. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Property Development from the University of Portsmouth. In addition, Craig is an active investor in private property and development opportunities.
